Customisation procedure

The customisation procedure consists of the following steps:

1ensure that your LDAP grouping structure will support the desired associations

2ensure that the correct users are members of the appropriate LDAP groups

3create the Smart Links and associate them with the appropriate LDAP groups

These steps are discussed below.

To ensure that your LDAP grouping structure will support the desired associations

To support the options described above you will need to allocate Admissions Office users to a suitable LDAP group, and then associate the relevant Smart Links with that group.

For the purpose of the example, we will allocate Admissions Office users to the AP_USER (Admissions Plus user) group.

To ensure that the correct users are members of the appropriate LDAP groups

To add a user to an LDAP group follow the To associate a user with LDAP groups procedure described in the User account management chapter of the Control Centre User’s Guide.

To create the Smart Links and associate them with the appropriate LDAP groups

Follow the procedures described under Maintaining Smart Links. Ensure that you enter the correct LDAP role in the LDAP Role field.

For example, to add the HESA Website Smart Link and make it visible only to members of the AP_USER LDAP group:

1Go to SET-UP > Smart Links

2Click Create New Link

3Complete the details of the new Smart Link, making sure that AP_USER is entered in the User Role field.

The HESA link will now appear to users who are part of the AP_USER LDAP group. The illustration below shows that:

1Andrew Whitelamb is a member of the AP_USER LDAP group

2The HESA website Smart Link is associated with the AP_USER LDAP group via the User Role field.

3The HESA web site Smart Link is associated with the Quercus Main Menu family.

4Andrew Whitelamb will see the Smart Link when he views the Quercus 8 Home Page.
