Showing student exam results

Overview

You can make students’ exam results available through the Quercus Student Portal or through the Quercus Mobile application.

Before exam results are visible, you must have completed the following tasks:

set the QL4S.SHOW_EXAM_RESULTS parameter to True

associated the course modules with an exam board and set the result release date

set up exams for the course

entered marks for the exam

run the results calculators

The procedures for these activities are described below.

To allow students to see exam results in the Quercus Student Portal or through the Quercus Mobile application

1In Quercus, go to Control Centre > Set-up and select Parameters.

2Locate the QL4S.SHOW_EXAM_RESULTS parameter.

2Set the parameter to True.

To associate a module with an exam board and set the results release date

1Go to Progression Manager > Progression Control > Marks and Standards.

2Locate the course to which the module belongs and click the Select Course icon.

The list of course instances opens.

3Locate the course instance for which you want to display exam results and click the Level-1 button.

The list of modules associated with the exam opens.

4Locate the module for which you want to display exam results and click the Exam Board Details button.

5Choose the appropriate Exam Board type and click the Exam Board Details button.

6If your module is not in this list, click the Add button at the foot of the screen.

The Module Instance Board screen opens.

7Click the Module button.

8Locate your module, select it and click Create.

A second screen opens.

Click Add.

9The module is added to the Exam Board Sitting.

10Click OK then the Previous button twice to return to the The Module Instance Board screen.

11Click the Exit button in the main toolbar to return to the Exam Board Maintenance screen.

12Locate the module you have added and set the Publish Date to the date when the exam results should be made available on the web portal and the mobile platform.

13Click Propagate.

The publication date is propagated.

To set up exams for the course

1In the Classic Interface go to Course Manager > Module Maintenance > Maintain Module.

2Open the module for which you want to set up exams.

3Open the module instance which is associated with the course.

4Click the Assessments button on the right of the screen.

5Add an assessment type of EXAM.

6Enter the exam details.

7Save the record.

To enter the exam marks

1In Quercus, click the Courses tab and locate your course.

2Click the Modules sub-tab and select the module for which you want to enter the results.

3Click the module’s Assessment icon and then click the Enter Results icon (you must be a member of the QP_RESULTS_ENTRY LDAP group to see this icon).

4Enter the results.

5Click Confirm Results when the results are finalised and correct.

Note: you can also enter results through the Classic Interface.

To run the calculator

1In the Classic Interface go to Progression Manager > Assessment Manager > Results Entry.

2Choose Enter Results by Module.

3Enter your password.

4Locate the Module using the search filter.

5Click the Level-4 calculator button.

6The students’ results are presented.

7Run the Calculate option to calculate the level-4 results.

8Click the Previous button.

9Click the Level-1 Results button.

10Run the Calculate option to calculate the level-1 results.

Note: if you are using a 2- or 3-level course structure you will need to also perform this process for levels 2 and 3 (calculating level 3 before level 2, and level 2 before level 1).

Finally, check that the result appears in the student portal
