Controlling access and authorisation

Overview

The various actions relating to mark entry and adjustment which staff, administrators and board members can perform are controlled by LDAP roles.

By ‘actions’ we mean the abilities to:

view results

enter results

lock and unlock records

run calculators

modify results

publish results

The LDAP roles which control these permissions all begin with an AS_ prefix.

In tandem with the LDAP-based control of actions, Quercus access model controls access to student data. The Quercus access model – person, organisation or unrestricted – controls access to specific course, module and student records.

In other words, you are restricted to what you can do by your LDAP role. You are restricted to what you can see by the Quercus access model which is in use. The logic is that of the standard Quercus security model.

» For more information about the standard Quercus security model, see http://docs.campusit.net/publications/quercusplus-menu-8.0.2-user-guide/security-and-access-model.

Access to data

User access to courses, modules and students is controlled by selected Quercus access model.

Users can access records they are associated with. For example user can set-up an exam board for modules she has access to only.

For more information see http://docs.campusit.net/publications/quercusplus-menu-8.0.2-user-guide/security-and-access-model.
